ICL Set ChloRun System to Help Students in Chinese Rural Areas

    Launching ceremony for ICL ChloRun Pilot Project in Nanpi No.1 Middle School was held on 8th of November in Nanpi County. Representatives from ICL China, Beijing Nuo Ran De Li Technology & Trading Co., Ltd, and CCCMC, whose goal was to provide safe water for the teachers and students after the demonstration project.

     ICL has finished the first stage of the demonstration of ChloRun system in Nanpi No.1 Middle School. As a company which has made business in China for about 15 years, ICL chose to bring in ChloRun system for improving the quality and safety in Chinese rural areas during its development on water management. ChloRun purifies drinking water and kill the bacteria mainly from wells and rivers by solid chlorine. There are many advantages in this system. At first, the system can be produced to be the small scale one for up to 10 thousand people’s use. It only can solve the problem by purifying drinking water in small areas, but also is useful and easy to get when disasters like earthquake happen. Second, it is safe for transportation. Solid chlorine is much easier and safer to carry during the transportation compared to liquid chorine. Therefore, it costs less to store the materials and storage period can last longer to about 2 years. Next, the system is efficient to purify the water. Unlike normal water purifiers, ChloRun can release chlorine slowly and exactly according to the test system in it. It can be prevented that water will be contaminated again when transported to the end consumers through pipes. Besides, it is easy to operate the system. The teachers and students can understand and operate the system after short-term training.

     It is known that the system has already been used in many places in Israel and India and being demonstrated in United States. Mr. Eli Glazer, president & CEO of ICL China, told the reporter in the interview that they will get the support from government if the demonstration tests to be in line with Chinese standard for drinking water because the system helps Chinese people in rural areas and solve the health problems. Mr. Ji Shiming, the business development manager of ICL China, said: “We chose Nanpi County to do the demonstration for we found that the channel water used by school students and teachers is not treated. At present, water safety has become the big issue in China. It was reported that 280 million people living in the rural area don’t have enough safe water. So we will develop water management in China and this is just a start. Later on, we will do more demonstration to let the system be applied by other channels. The central government and local governments, like Ministry of Civil Affairs who is taking care of water management, will support our system.”

     ICL have kept stable business relationship with Chinese traders and got relied by the Chinese market. Mr. Zhou Chun, Director of Petroleum & Chemicals Department of CCCMC, commented that ICL China has been following the management principal to develop healthily and create values to benefit society and the service to support education career in Chinese rural areas and environmental protection will be supported strongly by the government.
