AmCham South China members expect investments to increase

Members of the American Chamber of Commerce in South China are expecting their reinvestment budgets for expansion in China to increase 30 percent to hit $13 billion this year.

The member companies in the southern Chinese region have expressed strong confidence in the vast Chinese market and China's economic reforms, according to a survey published in the Guangdong provincial capital of Guangzhou on Wednesday.

The survey conducted by AmCham South China interviewed 351 companies to predict their projected investment spending in 2014.

AmCham South China has more than 2,000 corporate and individual members in the southern Chinese region, which borders the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions.

This year, 84 percent of study participants ranked the business environment in South China as "Good / Acceptable", "Very Good" or "Outstanding". Meanwhile, roughly 50 percent of participants felt the business environment had improved over the past 12 months, in contrast to 22 percent who felt it had worsened, according to AmCham South China President Harley Seyedin.
